Clarify the voice used

Done Have two buttons instead. One that says "Use machine voice" and one that says "Use your own voice". For languages in which we do not have a machine voice using your own voice would be the only option.

Can we switch the colors of the two buttons. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 06:27, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Auto upload to Youtube

Done Auto uploads to our Youtube channel.

Have all media played before moving on

Done Right now as soon as the software finishes reading the text it moves on.

Want the ability to have all media played before it moving on.

ET: 1h

Naming for Youtube

Done We do not need to start the names with "Video:" I have remove this from the existing videos manually. Also rather than an underscore between works in a title can we get a space.

Add a "Desciption" to the Youtube uploads

Done "Video summary of XX. It is built from a collaboratively editable script whose text is under a CC BY SA 3.0/4.0 license. Join us! https://mdwiki.org/wiki/Video:XX"

Fixed bugs

  1. I had to use headings to cause transitions.    Done
  2. When I have "...similar to zeka virus..." the references go over the 300 character count and cause a transition just for the references.  Re-enforces the need for a transparent transition command like NextSlide.  Done
  3. I had to manually load the images into the player from the script.  Done
  4. Changing a header, causes the media to be lost from the player.  Done
  5. When a heading is edited in the script, it removes the media from the player and if a section header is added will move all media after it  Done
  6. Attempting to delete a slide. Player divided text into two slides. Could not undo by shortening text. Had to delete entire paragraph, and everything after it. Sync the player, and then repaste.  Done
  7. When uploading an updated version, the exported webm file from the player has the same hash. Because of this, Commons assumes you're trying to upload the same file twice. Each export from the player should have it's own hash.  Done
  8. At the Periodontal Disease Overview.webm there is a "timed text" tab. I'm not sure what this is for? Answer: Subtitles  Done
  9. CREATE NEW HASH FOR EACH NEW EXPORT  Done
  10. Create section with >300 characters and puts into two slides>>drop picture into 'second half' of slide. If you change anything (text) second picture is lost. see last slide pneumonia  Done
  11. player reads text, slide breaks (headers), and media directly from script  Done
  12. ADD CLOSE "X" TO TRANSPARENT TEXT BOX TOP RIGHT, AND ADD OPEN BUTTON NEXT TO PLAYER CONTROLS
     Done
  13. When the player is stretched (e.g. full screen) it pulls all media with it causing severe distortion  Done
  14. Aspect ratios poorly managed. (new media for dengue was created at 1920x1080 and still not tolderated. Not sure which aspect ratio is tolerated.
     Done
  15. transitions don't exist in the webm versions  Done
  16. Still not resizing the pictures properly.  Done
  17. Diminishes many of the images down to potato quality (gifs have been improved as of May 1, 2019)  Done
  18. Replaces png file backgrounds with black instead of white. Many pngs and all svg's don't have a background.   The Videowiki player adds in a white background automatically, but this is lost when compiled to webm.  The result is a black background which usually washes out text.  Done
  19. voice is slower in export than on player toooo sllloowww imo.  Done
  20. Periodontitis. Updated video>>confirmed it was updated in Commons, refreshed Periodontal Disease article. webm video showed new images, but old sound (and showed updated CC). Cleared my cache, deleted and replaced entire Wikimarkup call for video. Same problem. Eventually, changed the thumbtime and, presto, it was fixed.  Done
  21. svg files render to webm with a black background  Done
  22. REMOVE TRANSITIONS: The floating/random transitions make media presentation unpredictable. Change to 0.5sec fade  Done
  23. MAKE THE MENU BAR TRANSPARENT, AND ADD A "X" CLOSE BUTTON TOP RIGHT MENU  Done
  24. It didn't keep up on some of the quick transitions. Problem seems to be with slow float in or rotate transitiion. Done
  25. Pause between slides is too fast. It should be the same length as a period or a comma pause. Done
  26. With new video in Dengue fever as first slide, autostart is slow. Not sure if related to video or something else.  Done

Script

  1. Putting images in line with text.  I use [[File:ANYIMAGE|100px|left]] followed by <br clear=all> to make it look pretty
  2.  Done Desperately need the visual editor enabled. You spend a lot of time on punctuation, so that the computer sounds humanoid. Without VE it's very difficult, because the text is lost in sea of references. -> WMF emailed
Try turning on syntax highlighting. Kaldari (talk) 23:00, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
  3. Need a method to cause a pause without placing multiple commas -> Maybe a template called {{pause}} were one can stipulate how long the pause should be for. It will than add the needed number of "," without looking ugly.
Yes, this would be very useful. I haven't found any way to introduce pauses; even multiple commas and periods don't seem to work. Lambtron talk 20:31, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
I second this. In this example, videowiki skips to the next section as soon as it finishes reading out the words, rather than playing the full media clip. Wouild be very useful to get it to play the full media clip before moving to the next section. T.Shafee(Evo&Evo)talk 01:40, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
  4. Adding VideoWiki template by default "Create a Video" button.

Uploading to Commons

  1. Add to the commons edit summary upon uploading a human voice that a human voice was added.

Player

  1. After last slide, when end it keeps repeating reading of the last slide  Done
  2. Reusable Animation Platform
  3. Security vulnerability code updates.
  4.  DoneWhen a new human voice is added have a bot make a null edit with an edit summary to notify people that this has occurred. Bot request Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/User:Hassan.m.aminbot

Feature request: Auto-generated caption slide

It would be very useful to have a way to create a slide that displays a single line caption of user-defined text without having to create, upload and link to a custom image. For example, an editor could create a slide that displays the word "Introduction" for two seconds, via the usual section heading and text to be spoken and, instead of an image link, a template like {{VideoWiki TextSlide | text=Introduction | duration=2}}. This would also make it possible to change the text appearing in the video with a simple script edit. Lambtron talk 02:17, 28 July 2019 (UTC)

Agree good idea. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 08:22, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Video

Done The images are really distorted, would it be possible to keep the aspect ratio fixed for every slide? Mvolz (talk) 08:50, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

@User talk:Mvolz: Great point. We have recently worked on this issue and would love your feedback. You can check the latest example here. Presently, we keep the aspect ratio of the original image itself, and if the image is smaller than the screen size, we add a blur to the background. Images which are greater than the screen size, we bring it down the screen size. Thought?
