West Moreton Anglican College
West Moreton Anglican College (WMAC) is a private school affiliated with the Anglican Church of Australia. It is located in Karrabin, a suburb of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The school was founded in 1992, but was not officially opened until 1993. WMAC school covers preschool to Year 12 and is coeducational. The student body is divided into five houses, with each named after an Australian poet. These include Gilmore, Lawson, Mackellar, Paterson, and Wright [citation needed].
Offering subjects ranging from various fields standardised by the Queensland Department of Education, the school also notably features agricultural-based electives, such as agricultural science and agricultural practical.
WMAC is built upon the foundations of St Paul's Day school, opened in 1855, before being expanded by the parishioners of St Paul's Church to offer co-educational facilities. Founded by Reverend Canon Gavin Ott and Dr. Hugh Bartholomeusz, the school originally boasted thirty-eight hectares of land, including a dam and fertile farm land. Later, the school expanded to 44 hectares after acquiring land.
WMAC currently offer several award-winning sports, arts, and other extra-curricular activities and an Outdoor Education Program (Prep to Year 12), as well as a Defence Transition Program for students with ties to the Australian Defence Force.[1]
