Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Changing name away from a promotional sounding name, I realize now that my name came off as a promotional or paid name. I am a volunteer who was just updating information for a candidate I am working with in the 2023 Chicago Mayoral election and providing the basic information to make that page accurate. I am not being compensated for my editing. I am also currently working with an wikipedia editor who reached out to our team via LinkedIn and has agreed to edit the page for Bradley Laborman so it is appropriate content. I apologize for any confusion or issues I may have caused. I am just making sure that all candidates get fair representation on this platform.

Decline reason:

That means you have a conflict of interest; see WP:COI. Yamla (talk) 18:15, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is no conflict. I am literally posting the same way that anyone from any other candidate's team is posting. Can you tell me how them posting is different from me posting? This is not a paid position, I am just relaying information. VoteLaborman (talk) 18:20, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please just explain to me what I need to put to clarify everything. This is not promotion, this is placing information on a page along with everyone else who is also placing information on this page. VoteLaborman (talk) 18:21, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"I am literally posting the same way that anyone from any other candidate's team is posting" ... do you have evidence of this, or is this just what you believe to be true? And even if it is true, their misconduct does not excuse your own - see WP:NOTTHEM. Any editor working for a political candidate, paid or not, has an inherent conflict of interest and should not be editing articles directly. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:03, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is where I am confused because I know the other candidates are doing the same thing and when I am getting blocked and they are not it comes off as politically motivated... Which I know it is not, but it represents itself in that fashion. 96.87.65.85 (talk) 15:29, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikpedia is a source of information. I am not posting things like "Vote this or vote that" I am simply providing basic information.. If you could offer me someone to help who isn't trying to charge me. I get several people daily saying they will help and then they ask for money... how is that any different? It seems to me with all the sites charging to post pages for people, me doing it as a volunteer to just share basic information should be be ok. How do you get around having a conflict of interest? It seems like anyone making a page for anyone is doing it as a fan... 96.87.65.85 (talk) 15:32, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't fall into the trap of paying someone else to edit Wikipedia, with the expectation that what you want added is guaranteed to stay forever and unchanging. Edit-for-hire people often mislead customers by making such promises, which they can never keep. Wikipedia is a collaborative project; anyone can edit any article at any time, and content can change over time, often quite substantially. No one owns or controls the content of articles, and the goal is to achieve consensus within the confines of Wikipedia's core content policies and guidelines.
If you notice other candidates' info that looks overly favourable and not properly sourced, then please raise it on the article talk page. Every Wikipedia article contains an edit history of every change made since its creation. This can reveal clues about whether certain editors are working with ulterior motives. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:36, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This page is set up for a valid and active candidate for Mayor of Chicago as confirmed on the corresponding wiki pages dedicated to the 2023 Candidates. The Bio for the IMDB was used because it is an accurate bio used throughout numerous platforms. Cteblmoc (talk) 01:21, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sources include TruTV, HuffingtonPost,
Also can include Daily Mail, Time Magazine, and others if more sources are needed. Cteblmoc (talk) 01:24, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. You will see that sources like Daily Mail and IMDb are deemed unreliable, and the Huffington Post is questionable for political topics. Time Magazine is considered reliable. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:54, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, this has actually been the first straight forward answer I have got on how to remedy this... however my Huffington Post aticle was in reference to my old television show on TruTV. 96.87.65.85 (talk) 15:04, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as you have referred to it as "your" old television show, then I assume that you are Bradley Laborman himself. Please be aware that the notability criteria for politicians considers unelected candidates for office not notable enough. However, if you are notable for other achievements outside of your political aspirations, and these can be verified in accordance with our policy for biographies of living persons, then you may be notable enough for inclusion for a standalone article.
If and when a reliable source mentions you as being a mayoral candidate, then it could be included in the article for the 2023 Chicago election. However, it must be a mainstream news source - it cannot be something you have written and published yourself, like a press release or social media post. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:45, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
