Archives

I was looking for something (your discussion with Galamore from a few days ago, who I've just blocked as a UPE) and noticed your archives were kind of weirdly broken -- archive 1 existed, but archive 2 and 3 didn't, and it skipped straight to 4. I moved them up so that sigmabot and the archive template at the top of your userpage would work properly; if you don't want it to be that way, feel free to revert me. jp×g🗯️ 06:42, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

I noticed that too but had no idea how to fix it. Thanks a bunch for sorting it out for me! I was also kinda worried about Galamore's editing. They continued creating spammy articles despite being told not to.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 06:51, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

January 2024 NPP backlog drive – Points award

The New Page Patroller's Barnstar

This award is given in recognition to Umakant Bhalerao for collecting more than 100 points during the January 2024 NPP backlog drive. A request for clarification

Hello! @Brother Bhalerao! I also agree with the unnecessaryness of the references you have removed from the introductory part of Article: Abdul Khaliq Madrasi. It is good that you have removed them with a warning. However, I would like to know which resources you feel are unreliable given the tag you have added to the article. Please explain so that the real problem can be understood and improved. Khaatir (talk) 12:40, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Regarding Draft [Pant] Hi Devidatt Pant was a freedom fighter who died in 1982. His only online reference is Government of India site which is on the page. I have some articles written by his son. What other references you need to approve the page?

Request on [Devidatt Pant] for assistance on submission by Anni in

There is only online reference available is Government of India web site which is given in the page. Devidatt Pant was a freedom fighter who dies in 1982 in Bikaner and went Jail with Gandhiji. There is no other online source available. However I have some arcticles written by his son Ramesh Pant who was scientist at Bhabha Anuhakti Sansthan Mumbai. Will that be considered a reliable source? If yes then how to submit that. Thanks

Anni in (talk) 06:55, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Anni in, thanks for reaching out. Most of the information you've included about him isn't supported by the reference you cited in the draft. Wikipedia is a source-based platform. Every tiny piece of information needs to be well sourced to third party, independent, reliable sources. Please refrain from using articles written by his son as references. Also if you have a connection with the subject, it is necessary to disclose it on your userpage. Please see WP:COI and WP:RS for more information.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 10:48, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello, Umakant Bhalerao,

Do you think this article, as it is, is ready for main space? I was getting ready to move it back to Draft space until I saw you had accepted it. Liz Read! Talk! 05:06, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

@Liz Hey, thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry but could you please clarify why you believe it should go back to draft? It is well written and has enough sources. Am I missing something here? Please feel free to edit or revert it back to draft if you think otherwise.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 06:29, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello Umakant Bhalerao,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

ArcaneDoor

Hi. I've added some more cites to reliable sources to Draft:ArcaneDoor to demonstrate notability. These include The Register, and Wired, both of which are marked as reliable on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources, and Computing, a highly regarded British computer industry trade publication. Can you please re-review the article and let me know if it meets your approval now? — The Anome (talk) 10:21, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

Hubert Kretzchmar

Hubert Kretzschmar graphic designs are in many households and have travelled the world with The Rolling Stone’s exhibits and in galleries. The MOMA in New York City has exhibited his artwork for The Rolling Stones and Kraftwerk. https://www.moma.org/artists/47168 2601:589:4300:3E61:A571:99F7:A0FD:8EF3 (talk) 05:33, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for messaging me. When you first submitted the draft, there was only one reference (Discogs), which is an online music database and not a secondary, independent reliable source. Now, I see you've added more references and you've resubmitted the draft. So, I'll wait for another reviewer to take a look at it. Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 05:53, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Hubert Kretzschmar is searchable on Wikipedia yet his biography is not made. The best information on his schooling, training, and career was on Discogs.

He’s discussed at length in this book on The Rolling Stones:

“Hubert Kretzschmar, photographer and illustrator, said, "As far as I remember Jagger came to the meeting with the title, I knew that there was political unrest in South America around that time, El Salvador, Argentina and Chile. There was no visual concept when I first met with Jagger and he talked about the song Undercover. At that time in 1983 there was a feud between Jagger and Richards, of which I only very much later became aware. They never were in the studio at the same time." Undercover of the night might also describe the manner in which Keith Richards worked on this album. One writer said Jagger recorded between midday and 5 while Richards recorded between midnight and 5 so they could avoid each other. Of that time, Richards says, "It must have been pretty bad for anyone around us who worked in Undercover. A hostile, discordant atmosphere. We were barely talking or communicating and if we were, we were bickering and sniping." Smith's album Cities of the Red Night includes a story about a detective searching for a lost boy who had been abducted for use in a sexual ritual. This may have been the inspiration for the Stones video. cover may have been a casualty of that feud. The album was released November 7, 1983 in a sleazy blue sleeve that featured a vintage peep-show pinup. Fans were protected from her earthly delights by strategically placed stickers. Corriston and Kretzschmar Again The Stones engaged the team of Peter Corriston and Hubert Kretzschmar who had worked successfully for the Stones in preparing the Some Girls and Tattoo You album covers. Corriston designed the covers and Kretzschmar did most of the production work, a relationship they seemed to repeat for Undercover. They are two immensely talented men who do not always see eye-to-eye on each other's roles. Corriston is a Grammy award winning graphic designer who made his bones by producing Physical Graffiti for Led Zeppelin in 1975.”

Regarding Draft Moriyama Teshima Architects

Hello, would it be possible to have you re-review the Moriyama Teshima Architects page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Moriyama_Teshima_Architects

I have been working to apply all the specified changes, and am happy to make whatever others are requested, I've just not been given any more feedback to adopt.

Thank you so very much. JLzero02 (talk) 14:31, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

Battle of Pinsk

Hello! I noticed you rejected Draft:Battle of Pinsk for lack of references. The article did have references though, just without inline citations. I agree that inline citations were necessary before the article was published, but I think a comment about this rather was a better option than rejecting without explaining to the user how to do citations. -- NotCharizard 🗨 07:28, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for reaching out, Notcharizard! I just wanted to clarify that I didn't reject the draft, I simply declined it. I saw your comment and completely agree that there are no inline citations in the article, and besides, some of the information in the draft isn't adequately supported by the sources provided by the author, which is why i declined it. Anyway, I have left a comment on the author's talkpage.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 08:30, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Flowering plants

Your acceptance of the Matelea pubiflora article by User:FloridaArmy into mainspace was premature. The draft was riddled with errors; in particular the scientific name (and thus the article title) was incorrect. It would be best to alert participants at WT:WikiProject Plants about any draft on a plant prior to moving it into mainspace. Unlike most Wikiprojects WP:PLANTS is very active. Thanks, Abductive (reasoning) 10:55, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

Thanks so much for bringing these issues to my attention and for taking care of them. I really appreciate your effort. Sure, I'll definitely reach out to the folks of the WikiProject Plants if I need any help or clarification. Thanks again!-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 05:46, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi! Can you please review the article again? All the sources there are major media, independent and reliable, not paid as you can see- non paid notes. It loos the same as pages of other figures in the field. Draft:Neville L. Johnson J2009j (talk) 16:58, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
I haven't reviewed the draft sources thoroughly yet, but your draft sounds highly promotional and non-neutral. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view and summarize secondary independent sources. I'm not sure how other pages are written, and I haven't reviewed them yet, but two wrongs do not make a right. I suggest that you first familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's WP:WWIN and fix these issues before resubmitting the draft for review. Also, if you have a conflict of interest with the subject, you must disclose it on your user page. Please see WP:COI also.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 10:48, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Regarding Draft:Aamir_Naik is ready with reliable content sources to review move as an article

Hi Dear, I Hope this message finds you well. Iam writing kindly your assistance in reviewing and potentially approving my draft Wikipedia article for publication.
I have carefully followed Wikipedia's content guidelines and ensured that the article is well - referenced with reliable sources. Additionally, I have made necessary improvements based on feedback received from other editors. I believe it contributes valuable information with standards notability and verifiability.
Best regards 122.161.243.179 (talk) 11:12, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

You're wrong

My newly created page for boxer Tania Alvarez is not an orphan. There are links from the pages for Skye Nicolson and the list of European Boxing Union female Champions page. Please don't be so quick to criticise and add unnecessary notes. Thank you. Shrug02 (talk) 15:35, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi, It was displaying 'Orphan' earlier, but it seems it's no longer the case. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 15:45, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

Review draft submission: Guy Deutscher (physicist)

Please review the Draft:Guy_Deutscher_(physicist) prior to moving it into article. This is an extension to the page after Deutscher's death. Roy Beck (talk) 10:37, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

You are wrong

My newly created page is well defined with reliable articles which follows the Wikipedia references and policies, but still page is for modifying on which basis. I think you are harrassing me Kamarrrr (talk) 10:17, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

@Kamarrrr, I am harassing you? I apologize if you feel that way. I declined your draft on 8th March because the subject does not seem to meet our standards for notable actors. The draft mentions that he has been in 3 films, but all of these are minor or supporting roles. Also, not all sources you added to the draft are reliable. They are profiles on streaming sites, movie listings, YouTube videos, which are not considered reliable and contribute to establishing notability. The ones that are reliable lack in-depth significant coverage. Please see WP:NACTOR and WP:RS.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 03:09, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
I can understand but at the time the draft article was not prepared when you declined ,but now draft article is attached with reliable sources according to Wikipedia policies and it is about an actor having supporting roles in many bollywood movies which is also mentioned in many offical and authentic news website of India. If there is any mistake i will do that. Kamarrrr (talk) 04:59, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
Could you please post three reputable sources here where the actor has been covered in-depth? I've already reviewed the updated draft and the new sources you added do not establish the actor's notability. Hindustanmetro, Awazthevoice, and Timesofmalwa are not reputable sources and seem questionable. They do not show how this actor meets WP:NACTOR. He has only appeared in three films and all in supporting roles, which is not sufficient for inclusion in Wikipedia.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 03:46, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

Draft submission

Hello Umakant Ji,

I noticed that you deleted my draft, saying that it's advertising and promotional and not neutral manner. All the information I included in the draft content are facts, and I have also provided sources for them. I was planning to add more content to the draft, but you deleted it before I could do so. Could you please tell me which information you believe is factually incorrect? Bobboby6505 (talk) 15:46, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

I'm not an administrator and I don't have the ability to delete articles. I only declined your submission because it is written in a way that promotes the subject rather than discussing the person. I never said your draft was inaccurate or based on WP:OR. but it's important to remember that Wikipedia is not a platform for promotion. Your article should be written from a very neutral point of view and summarize information from secondary reliable sources only. Please read WP:RS, WP:PROMO, and submit your draft only when it is ready using the submit button.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 04:35, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

Draft submission declined

Dear Umakant Bhalerao,

I just noticed that you declined my Draft:Orestis Mastakas submitted article, citing "Submission is improperly sourced" as a reason. First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to review it. Secondly, I would also like to ask for more details, if you have some time to spare. As a newcomer, I would be grateful if you could specify which parts need to be edited and what exactly needs to be done.

Thank you very much in advance for your time.

ArchidamusIII (talk) 11:22, 2 June 2024 (UTC)

@ArchidamusIII Thanks for reaching out. Yes, I declined your draft for not being "adequately supported by reliable sources." Sources like Facebook and LinkedIn are primary, thus not considered reliable or independent of the subject. To improve your draft, please remove all LinkedIn profiles and Facebook posts and instead add links from secondary, reliable sources. I haven't reviewed the other sources in the draft yet, but I would suggest reading WP:RS for guidance on sourcing.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 12:32, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
Dear Umakant Bhalerao,
Many thanks for the feedback! I will check if there is any source that could replace Facebook and LinkedIn. In terms of notability, is it useful enough?
ArchidamusIII (talk) 14:03, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
The subject doesn't meet the notability criteria. Most of the sources you've used in the draft are profiles, the subject's own research papers, and YouTube videos, all of which are not considered reliable or independent sources. Furthermore, the reliability of some sources is questionable. If we remove all these sources, the draft is left with only a few, which are insufficient to establish the subject's notability as they are all about a single event—the presidential election of the student association at HSG (University of St. Gallen).. Please have a look at WP:GNG.-- Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 09:02, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
Dear Umakant Bhalerao,
Thanks for your feedback! Apart from the HSG election,
- The first section has an article from Luben.tv, which has around 1,500,000 monthly users in Greece (https://luben.tv/stream/79535). It also has an article from Neopolis.gr, which has around 760,000 montly users in Greece. https://www.neopolis.gr/orestis-mastakas-emp/ This should count as another event of notability I think.
- There is an article of Politico about the European Central Bank events by Politico, although Mastakas' name is not directly mentioned in the article. https://www.politico.eu/article/european-central-bank-accuse-warning-staff-trainee-union-ipso-help-raise/
- Mastakas was mentioned multiple times in local media during the municipality elections. 1 full article about him, one "half-article" covering him and his party in a positive way (after talking about the prime minister's visit), 1 article stating that the old generation should make way for the new generation, and various passing refernces in other articles.
Would this not count as 3-4 instances, instead of 1?
I totally agree that some of the sources are not that good though. If you have any ideas for improvement on that, I would be grateful! ArchidamusIII (talk) 10:12, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
