Changes to Damon Matthew Wise

You will note that we have started cleaning up external sources references and links (to ensure independence of the subject), references and information in paragraphs.

Cannot see however how to split up into sections, and cannot find how.

Would appreciate it if you left problems off the page itself and put them in Damon_Matthew_Wise Talk - broken into sections which can thus be responded to individually. We are working our way through history inserting sections subsections and subsections ... we have identified a huge number of contents on Google and other searches on the matter and thus, and as the families (on both sides) are all in the autistic spectrum you can expect a lot of to-and-throwing before the contents are accurate, independent and appropriate for everyone.

Wikipedia and editors with disabilities, esp Asperger Syndrome

I have been trying and failing to find a Wikipedia area which deals with how we, as a community, reach out to and work with those with disabilities, especially Asperger Syndrome, and who have trouble conforming to the norms when editing here. I am trying and failing to communicate with one such editor at present. They and I miss in the middle. We each 'speak' but there is no actual conversation. I want to help them, and other such folk, to have a good experience here and, so far, am failing.

Please with the person offering help introduce me to the relevant group, team, sub-community here? A valid alternative is that you are competent in this area yourself and can give the direct help to the editor who is having trouble here. Fiddle Faddle 09:41, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

So, I got a message from him and all he wants (or they want since its an organization from the context of the message on my talkpage he wants someone to upload a photo of that guy. Now, I don't have a Facebook account so if someone knows how to do images here, will be of huge help. Um, no, they are not based on the manufacturer's website, although they have links to the manufacturers website as allowed per WP:EL. If you read then the articles, they are all referenced to Bayerl, Robby; Martin Berkemeier; et al: World Directory of Leisure Aviation 2011-12. WDLA UK, Lancaster UK, 2011. ISSN 1368-485X an independent third party paper publication source that establishes WP:N. These articles are part of WP:WikiProject Aircraft, a project to create aircraft type articles on every notable aircraft type ever flown. Each article naturally meets WP:GNG, as these three do. - Ahunt (talk) 21:08, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
I have declined the speedy deletion of these three articles as they dont appear be promotional in nature and conform to what would be expected for this type of article and clearly doesnt need a fundamental rewrite. Smile template

Hi. Reading down User talk:AspieNo1 before replying to his help request, I was surprised by the smile box in this section which (as I see it) reads "Hello AspieNo1, JohnCD has smiled at you!" I have read the spec of Template:Smile and still don't think I understand it. I guessed it might be showing my name because I was the account reading it, but I looked again logged out, and it was still there. The only explanation I can think of is that it shows my name as the most recent user to have posted on that page, though that seems odd. From the spec, I see that the smile template is supposed to be subst-ed, but it seems a peculiar side-effect from not subst-ing. Perhaps you would like to subst it? Don't ask me to explain why the Iranian government would put two villages with the exact same name in the lowest level subdistrict together, but alas they have and the only meaningful distinction remaining is their location about 15km apart. Have suggested a number ways forward - about retaining contents for editing and reviewing references located and cleaning up article

Although applied for Sandbox and supported userfy idea as a stepping stone to continue working, don't know if anyone else understands exactly what yea are on about. We may sound like culchies, but a lot of these Yanklish expressions sound like goobledigook - I haven't found a logical definition that makes the slightest sense!

For the moment many here are affected by the Clodagh, so not the biggest thing. Think Damon will be annoyed if all the work everyone put into the project is wasted, so something has to be done. I know some of the comments were offensive, as if he agreed to it for promoting himself, rather then the cause - that is down right the most objectionable lack of understanding of Aspies that is out there - discriminatory, prejudices and insulting.

Tagged Personalized advertising for a speedy

I saw that you tagged this with a PROD, but just wanted to give you a head's up that I noticed that this was a pretty blatant advertisement tie-in to an article that the same editor had created. Well, I am torn between "They have to learn somewhere" and "Ye gods, get off this train!" Most people don;t dare NPP until they have a good few months under their belt. The one you are referring to has a few days. Well, I have fired an enormous warning shot. I think we need to follow it up with watching their contributions and escalating warnings.

This one I would have reviewed in addition as a non notable corporation. It is not the ones you get right that are the problem. I am glad that you guys were there for help. Yeah i agree with DLOH here, there was a delay in my ceasing and messages. It was like everyone went against me even those who were having weird pages live on Wikipedia. Anyways i wont edit anything till i learn how to use the tools. P.s: @Timtrent Thanks for your warnings, yes wikipedia can block people from editing from one account but on some serious notes i have seen many people holding multiple accounts and doing monopoly on creating pages and making them STAND LIVE On Wikipedia. When someone contests for the deletion what happens next? One should do one's best to handle everything in Wikipedia within policy, especially handling things that appear to be outside policy. I know that seems to be a paradox.
I am not an admin, nor do I want to be one. This is, in part, because I want all my actions to have a second pair of eyes on them when I (eg) propose an article for deletion, or report a suspected sockpuppet. That second set of eyes is important because it tries to ensure that all is done correctly, especially when I make errors, which I do.
If you are ever unsure and need the guidance of an admin one way of handling that is to place {{adminhelpme}} on your talk page. Be sure to ask a very specific question for that admin to answer, though :).
With multiple accounts I suggest that you do not venture there until you have gained a greater set of skills. That is not meant to be patronising, so please do not take it as such. It is simply an area with even larger scope for errors and getting it wrong.
I'm glad you took the warnings the way they were intended. I had to persuade you to stop, listen and learn. Sometimes only a warning will do that. Fiddle Faddle 22:17, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Information on Royal Canadian (Sea|Army|Air) Cadet articles

Hello,

You have been repeatedly reverting removal of biased information from the above pages. Please stop.

The info is being added by a person running his own little campaign against the cadet program in Canada, and those edits have been reverted by a couple of officers (the people you starting an SPI on). I've now reverted again, and would strongly suggest that you stop adding it back. If you felt like re-adding the content without the obvious bias one way, that would of course be fine.

The whitewash part is certainly a concern, and I fear I've gone a bit too far for someone with an obvious bias towards the program in the opposite direction. With regard to the person you have stated to be running a campaign, WIkipedia has excellent ways of handling the matter. They can seem ponderous and take a while to bear fruits, but, and I am assuming you to be correct form a base of no knowledge at all, our administrators will investigate and take action.
My part in this is done. I have achieved what was not happening, which is a discussion on article talk pages with a view to achieving consensus. This is a discussion I will not participate in because the overall topic is of no particular interest to me. The articles are on my watch list because I did some work in them a long while ago, of a general nature.
It would be amazing indeed if there were not genuine instances of sexual abuse in any youth organisation. I was, once, a sailing instructor for the UK's Sea Cadets, and was pleased to see an officer removed from his duties for abuse of a 12 year old child.and unamused that it had taken place where I worked. I was little more than a kid myself, and I had noticed he seemed to get unusually close when in conversation.

If using link to talk:Aspies is against the rule, please help reinstate original Aspie page then

please reinstate word coinage cross-referencing Aspies usages of words, like Mundane to mainstream.

They were voted to keep, but was history shows instead redirected to Asperger syndrome.

If you check talk:asperger's syndrome, talk:Aspies and talk:Damon Matthew Wise you will see considerable discussion and discovery of evidence of pre-1999 references to such cultural lingo used by Aspies, and removing Aspie cultural. It should start coming out of talk pages and come into the public area.

Aspies around the world, who have now been using Aspies, Cousins, and Auties for around 20 years have no problem using their referenced lingo. It should not be classed as a subculture, to be hidden away, but identified as a unique cultural language and meaning.

If talk:Aspies is subculture and is not the right place, help cancel the redirection, reinstate Aspies article, and help edit from these diverse sources into a properly referenced compendium on Aspie culture, behaviour and lingo?

Please do the right thing and reinstate.

We are now, after 20 years talking, over 2000 references in google for aspies still out there, some of which are still existing pre-1999 redirection (when very few websites and groups are readily searchable.

Granted, Isn't that is what I said - now that redirection to the Talk page has been explained is against the rules is impossible (and that page was a keep), maybe it and original content from original Aspie page should be copied into it with the others with a view to getting a properly resourced article together.

I take contents from different users by dropbox, and yes collaborate in chat with other editors - placing researched material in talk and then editing down in content. Lighthouses

Hi Timtrent,

Thanks for your attention to my work.

I have already edited and expanded some lists:

  1. List of decommissioned ships of the Chilean Navy
  2. List of islands of Chile
  3. List of fjords, channels, sounds and straits of Chile
  4. List of saltpeter works in Tarapacá and Antofagasta
  5. List of lighthouses in Chile

The problem is always the same, the (one-package) lists get too large and the table doesn't allow to include photographs.

In the first four cases, I think, the information must be given in a sortable wikitable because sometimes we want to order the information alphabetically, sometimes by latitude or by type of ship, etc.

Therefore I didn't separated the information, and I presented only one list.

In the 4. case I added some maps with some tricky code with many <br>'s, not very convincing. The maps are shown at the right place in my 15" Laptop, but I don't know where are the maps in a 23" monitor.

The lighthouses list is a different case. Nobody wants to order the houses alphabetically (some of them have names like "Rear, 60 mts from front"). If someone wants to order the houses by color or longitude, I don't know, sorry.

But the splitting of the houses in different tables and pages allows:

  • human life times for loading of the pages through a slow modem conection (in the original article are 670 houses and 190kb text)
  • to insert existing photographs for the houses

I must confess that the navegation between the articles is not very clear, too much text. I deleted the text of the initial page, and I will delete the text also in the rest of the pages. Probably I will add a navbox and move the deleted text to Lighthouses in Chile (now a redirect).

There is often a convention of ordering coastal elements in the order of the direction they appear on a coast. An example would be North → South. This would overcome the issue of problems with ordering.

Michael Corballis II - how to collaborate

Dear Timtrent, I have been part of the open source movement in the 90th and there was a lot of utopic ideas. Out of this context also the Wikipedia Project emerged. I know that I did a mistake by starting the article with a wrong name and I am sorry for that. This was because I started with a link. But I find your tone inappropriate. Maybe you do a lot of good work in Wikipedia, but this is also about a collective approach to capture the state of art of knowledge. This form of collaboration needs respect and form all my work in the German Wikipedia I am used to another kind of respect. I am not here to make any moral judgment, but just to say, that it would be more effective if you would be as clear as you are in your position, but do not use a tone of dominance, which is not even used in postmodern companies any more. About Corballis I can insure you, that he is very important in the field of language evolution. I have no idea what you are talking about regarding tone. I assume it is a language difference. If Corballis is important then his article must assert it and references must show it. Article Feedback Tool update

Hey Tim. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Why did you delete my article?? I contested the deletion. I believe this is very random because I created two other articles in the same way (Icone and Roccabella), which were reviewed by an administrator (MTLskyline). I suggested deletion. Other hands and eyes deleted it. I saw it as an advert to buy condos in a new block. It asserted no notability. The admin who deleted it seems to have agreed with me. How am I supposed to do that? I only posted information about the location, height, number of condos, occupation rate and construction dates to inform the public on the future tower. From what I recall about the article the only sources were the developer. You need to ensure that all your articles are verified with references from reliable sources, eschewing all primary sources. @Hunterabercrombie1:: What you need to do is to take your time. The gentleman isn't going anywhere, nor is WIkipedia. Have a specialised look at google, thus:
Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
You may be pleasantky surprised at what you find. Once yoj have found things in what we call reliable sources then you can use those to cite facts in the article. At present, while he is a decent bloke, or s he seems, he is not yet notable for anything at all. If he;s won a mainstream award that makes him instantly notable, but, as a jobbing actor, well, he doesn't yet stand out from the crowd. Depp was like that in the beginning, too, everyione was, many still are, some will remain so all their lives.
Take the time you need to work quietly on the article where it was placed in your user space. Make it sing, but, above all, find what SMales is genuinely notable for. It is not a Spencer Hawken indie movie (today), but, if that takes off and makes it big, tomorrow, who can say.
I have a nagging feeling that you may be the gentleman himself. That would make it hard for you to hear all this stuff, doubly hard. But do not despair. He will, if he is good enough, make it into the limelight. Then he may have 'his' article with absolute pleasure.
This deletion stuff isn;t truly important, nor is his having an article on Wikipedia. WHat is more important is that he gets good, paying roles that let him build his career. Fiddle Faddle 17:32, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
