Recent edit to Child abuse

Hello, and thank you for your recent contribution. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edit because I believe the article was better before you made that change, specifically that Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy has not yet been discerned to be evidence-based, making your edit suspect. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! Asdklf; (talk) 19:27, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am a bit confused. Since there were empirical studies showing positive effects of Dyadic developmental psychotherapy doesn't that make it evidence based? Also, Craven & Lee found it to be evidence-based...See: Craven, P. & Lee, R. (2006) Therapeutic interventions for foster children: a systematic research synthesis. Research on Social Work Practice, 16, 287–304. Finally there is the article that summarized the "case" that this treatment is effective, empirically supported and evidence based: Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy: an evidence-based treatment for children with complex trauma and disorders of attachment by Hughes & Becker-Weidman, doi:10.1111/j.1365-2206.2008.00557.x Child & Family Social Work, 2008, 13, pp 329–337. Should I add those citation to support the statement? Panasonic345 (talk) 11:08, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Evidence-based medicine" is a technical term which refers to conclusions made by looking at all evidence, and not only some evidence. In medicine people here are especially sensitive to this. My thought based only on the title of these papers is that this is not evidence based medicine but I am not sure. In the future, would you consider either using the cite tool in the source code edit box of Wikipedia to expand academic citations, or otherwise copy the doi from papers you cite into this reference expander? Giving people easier access to your sources will help conversation. Also, welcome to Wikipedia. Blue Rasberry (talk) 10:56, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am using the term evidence-based not evidence-based medicine. so, if you go to http://www.cebc4cw.org/ you will see a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions ranked and rated regarding their level of evidence regarding efficacy. DDP has been found to be evidence-based, according to Craven, P. & Lee, R. (2006) Therapeutic interventions for foster children: a systematic research synthesis. Research on Social Work Practice, 16, 287–304. Panasonic345 (talk) 12:13, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was unable to find the information in the link you provided. It would help me and others if you directly linked to works you cited if they are online. The same goes for that paper you mentioned here again. Consider using that link I gave you to make your citations so that people can easily find the sources you cite.
This therapy sounds a lot like what would be covered by Wikipedia's medical policies, but this is not my field and I have no other comments. Ping me if you have questions. Blue Rasberry (talk) 12:54, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't edit war. This series of edits shows you adding the same disputed content four times. That's not how we write articles on Wikipedia; and anyone who tries to force their content into an article repeatedly is liable to sanction. Please don't let that happen to you. Once you have been reverted, you need to go to the talk page and build a consensus. It is not enough to simply state a case and then re-add your material. You have now been directed to WP:MEDRS and our agreement that we will only use the highest-quality sources to support claims of medical efficacy. There simply aren't sufficiently good sources to claim "Attachment-focused treatments such as Dyadic developmental psychotherapy has been found to be effective." --RexxS (talk) 21:07, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
