Overzealous reference cleanup?

Hi, I appreciate that you scour WP for insufficient references. However, you have removed a reference with the blanket argument "stackexchange.com is not a reliable source; replace reference with fact tag". Two things I take issue with here.

• First of all, the site linked as reference contains a proof of the claimed fact (did you actually look?). Everybody can check that (easy) proof for correctness. That is more than one can say about many (valid) references that point to paywalled papers.
• Second of all, while your statement is true (as in, not everything on every SE site can be trusted), but not a useful rule of thumb. Stack Exchange contains many valuable (and sometimes original) information; don't let your opinion be informed by Stack Overflow alone.

I hope you can find it in yourself to reconsider.

I don't think the cleanup was overzealous, and I stand by that decision. I actually did look, and I'm not confused between Stack Overflow and Stack Exchange's CS site. -- Mikeblas (talk) 18:33, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
