Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, LatchfordOz. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Ernest William Latchford MBE MC, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;

  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Explanation of Issue

Thank y9ou for your feedback on an article I submitted yesterday

To explain why the submission was submitted as drafted:

There is no conflict of interest as the individual is an ancestor of mine, who died when I was one year old. There is not relationship between the subject and myself. Moreover, the article is completely factual and cites from published sources recognised by the National Library of Australia. There is no opinion included in the article.

Please approve the draft accordingly or withdraw any block that may have been applied to have it published.

Draft:Ernest William Latchford MBE MC

Hi @LatchfordOz: You need inline citations. Take a look at WP:REFB. It is a wee video tutorial. When you open the edit windows, there is a Templates entry on the left-hand side. In the menu are four entries. Cite web is the most common for web pages, Cite book is for books, Cite news for newspapers. Put your cursor next to the place you want it on the article, select one of the templates, a dialog opens up. Fill it in as much as possible, and select insert and it will create the inline citation for you. Hope that helps. Give me a shout on my talk page, if you need more help. scope_creepTalk 15:53, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
