Wigan

Cannot agree here.

Greater Manchester county council was abolished in 1986 after only 12 years of existence (although a "ceremonial county" of that name still exists with a "lord lieutenant", their functions are rather obscure for ordinary people).

The only county which Wigan belongs to in any meaningful sense is Lancashire, as it has been part of Lancashire since the 12th century (the local government act 1972 made it explicit that the historic/traditional counties remained the same and would not be altered). Thus UK towns and cities should in my opinion be clearly referred to by their historic counties initially to give an accurate geographic and historic reference, before delving into the nitty-gritty of which local authority in 2021 empties the dustbins! @Herr chagall: I would suggest an RFC and bring your best stuff to resolve it for all clubs at project football as there is more than just Atlanta with this "branding" issue. I personally support the idea that FC means Football Club even if they don't use it that way. Koncorde (talk) 12:10, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

Not sure it will be possible to resolve it for all clubs as long as the user I reported is protected and given more or less free reign, but in this instance I would want a resolution one way or the other. I have contacted the other editors who had discussed it together with you three years ago. I also found this, business partners who were involved in building the sports complex and ground, who all list the complete name -> (HunterDouglas Architectural), (Spartan Surfaces), (TVS Design). As a side note, I have been blocked on the Italian Wikipedia where an admin and a user like the one I reported ganged up to retain ownership of the article and suppress the numerous links. - esse quam videri - to be rather than to seem (talk) 12:35, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

@Herr chagall: I wouldn't worry about him - in an RFC everyone gets a say, and there are a few dozen of us who will be more likely convinced by good evidence than one stubborn editor. And the main thing would be to start the RFC for Atlanta, and the outcome will establish a consensus. We did this years ago for "f.c." vs "football club" so it is very achievable.
