Birth year removals

Hi. I'm just wondering: Why are you removing year of birth from articles? Are you doing that based on some guideline? --GunnarRene 03:48, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Privacy of birthdays, if the subject complains we might keep the exact date private, but not the year. --GunnarRene 03:55, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, this recommendation is rather controversial, so I've completely reverted some of the removals, while I left the first ones with just the birth year. --GunnarRene 04:33, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know a few voice actors from through friends and conventions. They are actors and need work. Although they cannot completely control Wikipedia, the ones I know do not want their age (aka: Year of Birth) posted as it may hurt in getting a job. 2 complained directly about their Y.O.B.s being posted and I took it upon myself to help them out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GoggleBoy (talkcontribs) .

I see. Please keep up with WP:BLP and Wikipedia_talk:Biographies_of_living_persons#Privacy of birthdays?!--GunnarRene 13:37, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Which two actors requested that their YOB be removed? As it stands, those actors may either request to have only their year of birth, or full date of birth posted. Just posting the month and day is not an option at this point, neither is removing the date alltogether. But you may want to propose a change of policy on Wikipedia_talk:Biographies_of_living_persons. If the actors want to take some kind of action, see Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Dealing_with_articles_about_yourself--GunnarRene 13:43, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will. However, I will defend myself in saying that these aren't random actors that I'm looking at here and there. The only ones I'm touching are the ones that had their DOBs added recently by one member looking through a private eye website. I'm merely trying to edit them back to at least not showing the actors' ages which is the big problem. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GoggleBoy (talkcontribs) .
You're allowed to remove the month and date from those actors who have explicitly asked for them to be removed, not from all the other articles edited by one user. And which user are you referring to? A quick samle shows that birthdates were added or corrected by different users. [1] [2]. --GunnarRene 14:14, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The above of course applies to the current state of policy. I'm glad that you have decided to attemt to work on a consensus about changing policy instead of removing content in violation of policy.--GunnarRene 14:31, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You guys claim to have a do no harm policy, yet you fail to recognize that having the birh year, WHICH IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT to ANYTHING she's done, could do her SERIOUS career harm. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 17.232.81.152 (talkcontribs) .
