The source for my edits was the source listed in the article. I simply changed the narrative to add more information to what was on the article. The claim that 230,000 claimants would be taken off benefits is part of the Guardian article listed under the article's current sources. Obviously, unemployment is likely to be a lot higher than back in 2013 in the near future, so it is highly relevant to the article on person now in the shadow cabinet to place this information and context on the page. That is clearly not a non-neutral point of view. Additionally, the use of "tougher" without inverted commas is arguably not neutral, since it is a matter of opinion not only whether a particular welfare policy is "tougher" than another, but also whether such a policy is desirable or not. It is standard practice in journalism to put matters of opinion in inverted commas.
I would like to know exactly why my edits violated Wikipedia's guidelines. I did not add new unsourced content, I simply elaborated on the content that was derived the source that was already cited.
