Hello, I'm Alex Cohn. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Canadian women in the World Wars have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Lose the blocking

Request reason:
This is a branch of the Toronto Public Library system, specifically the Hillcrest branch in North York. Based on the fact that "Scarborough" (a different borough) has already been mentioned, you are currently blocking an entire city's worth of computers because of one shithead. Thank you.
Decline reason:
You've provided no reason to believe the block evasion has ended. But don't worry, the block won't affect you, so long as you sign in. Yamla (talk) 18:10, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Thanks for being an asshole, Yamla. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.189.94.13 (talk • contribs) 19:13, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- This comment shows the wisdom of the block. Anyone who wishes to contribute constructively, from this library, simply has to create an account. I note that there have been no less than 10 blocks and I see no merit in a long series of relatively short blocks. In the circumstances I am extending the block and, as stated below, any further abusive remarks will result in the loss of talk page privileges. Just Chilling (talk) 20:45, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Penalizing an entire library community over the actions of one guy is totally asinine. 205.189.94.13 (talk) 19:47, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Decline reason:
(1) It is unfortunate that the only way we can stop disruptive editing in this situation is by blocking an IP address, which has collateral effects on other editors, but unfortunately the only alternative is to sit back and permit disruptive editors to destroy the encyclopaedia. (2) I know exactly what it is like to find that one can't edit Wikipedia from a public library computer as a result of a block caused by other people, because that once happened to me. I didn't sit there typing messages accusing the administrators of being "assholes" and "asinine". Instead I accepted that there were good reasons for the block, even though it was inconvenient for me, and I created an account. I have never suffered from the effect of a block again. (3) I wouldn't assume that all the problems were caused by one "guy". Most public library IP addresses are the source of endless vandalism from many people. (4) Experience over the years shows that editors who use childish name-calling and personal attacks in one context (such as requesting an unblock) are unlikely to become decent civil cooperative editors in other contexts. Probably for that reason, in my seven years as a Wikipedia administrator I have not once seen anyone unblocked as the result of an unblock request that attacks or denigrates the administrator who placed the block. (5) One more personal attack will be likely to lead to talk page access being removed. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 20:30, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Due to persistent vandalism, anonymous editing from your school, library, or educational institution's IP address may be blocked (disabled). You will continue to have access to read the encyclopedia. If you are logged in but still unable to edit, please follow these instructions. To prevent abuse, account creation via this IP address might also be disabled.
If account creation is disabled and you are unable to create an account elsewhere, you can request one by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Request an account. Please check on this list that the username you choose has not already been taken. If editing is required for class projects, please have your instructor or network administrator contact us (with reference to this IP address) at the Unblock Ticket Request System with a contact email address that is listed on your school's website. Thank you for your cooperation.

Just because the admins at enwiki are a gang of notoriously incompetent, power-crazed bunglers, it is no reason to block the entire Toronto Public Library system. You clowns should resign en masse and let somebody real take over. Dear Jimbo, fire these petty tyrants. Thanks in advance, and thanks for conceiving of Wikipedia, in spite of its current gross mismanagement.
