Welcome
Welcome, willkommen, ƿilcuma. This is my user page. I focus mostly on translating articles between the English and German wikipediae, although I also contribute non-translated material to both. My main focuses are English and German theater, critical theory, and music. I hope someday to learn enough Old English to contribute to Ƿikipǣdie, sēo frēo Ƿīsdōmbōc.
Etymology
My username refers to a song written by William Shakespeare in his pastoral comedy As You Like It. The song is generally referred to by its first line, "Blow, blow, thou winter wind," but the chorus reads:
- Heigh-ho, sing heigh-ho, unto the green holly.
- Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly
- Then heigh-ho, the holly.
- This life is most jolly.[1]
I think the meaning is relatively self-explanatory.
