Spheres of interest: ancient Egypt, history of Egyptology and other oriental studies, early travellers to North Africa and the Middle East, Napoleonic history, ancient Romans.
Started by contributing to a small number of pages on Egyptology (a.o. Saqqara, Tutankhamun) in Dutch and English (2009-2010). I studied Egyptology (MA, Leiden University, 1997). It is tempting to become very active on Wikipedia but I try to limit myself to articles where I can add something really useful. When contributing to Dutch Wiki, I try to take corresponding English (and to a lesser extent French and German) Wiki articles into account as well.
2014: Created page on the Netherlands Institute for the Near East and added related info about (ancient) oriental studies in the Netherlands. At a public writing session in Leiden, created Dutch page on Emily Ruete/Sayyida Salme and added her portrait.
2015, 2019-20: Created and/or added info on pages of several (late) Dutch orientalists.
2019: Started updating relevant Wikidata items when editing Wikipedia.
2022: Updated Alexine Tinne's name in Wikidata and several Wikipedia language versions (see her Talk page).
