external links?

can we talk about the links proposed? i've looked at the guidelines on external links and it seems to me that the one i proposed earlier - http://www.zemaitisclub.com/zemaitis-gallery.htm - qualifies as highly relevant "information that could not be added to the article for reasons such as copyright or amount of detail": the "gallery" of images of notable Zemaitis owners with their Zemaitis guitars seems to me at least as relevant to this article as the link to the manufacturer's site. thanks Sssoul (talk) 08:41, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The only roadblock from WP:EL when it comes to linking fansites is the the portion of the policy that says "do not knowingly link to sites which contain copyright violations"... which most fansites do. Blogs, chats, fansites etc aren't allowed by the wp:el policy. If the Zemaitis fansite gallery page(or subpage) can show that proper permissions for every picture has been granted then it's OK... if it can't then they are supposed to be avoided. That being said, Wikipedia is abundant with fansite links because some editors choose to ignore the policy/guideline pages. It's really up to your own "wiki-conscience" whether you wish to add a link to the encyclopedia that may/may not contain illegal copyright violations. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 14:46, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
thanks - the statement on the "Zemaitis owners' gallery" page (which isn't a "fan site", by the way - it's an official noncommercial Zemaitis site) looks like they're being quite careful about the copyright question. i notice too in that WP:EL that links to manufacturer's/sales sites are discouraged, and that's obviously been "overridden" a lot on the various guitar pages because of the value/relevance of the information about the models being discussed, so ... so i'll go ahead and add that link to the "Zemaitis owners'" site again, and will hope it's not removed again. thanks for the insights. ridiculous claims

It's all so simple, then.

Firstly, anyone without a WP article is BY DEFINITION not "notable." I've cut those.

Being "an owner" is NOT AT ALL like "regularly plays one onstage."

Seeing as the article is about a contemporary "guitar-manufacturing company based in Tokyo, Japan", it's highly unlikely that DEAD GUYS are playing these. I have removed them. If you want to claim that Hendrix et al have played a Zemaitis, then go put it at Tony Zemaitis.

Unless an owner's WP article specifically SAYS he plays a made-in-Japan Zemaitis — AND offers a credible source to support this claim -- that name does not belong on this list.

Notable Players

What is the criterion for the order of the players. It is not alphabetical... Weltenburg (talk) 18:33, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

pearl front guitars

article says "In the mid-1970s, Zemaitis made his first "mother of pearl" fronts for Ronnie Wood and James Honeyman-Scott."

no. woody maybe, but JHS wasn't established enough in 1973 to stretch to a custom instrument, when TZ made the guitar used in this clip. JHS' own wp page has him using a zemaitis in 1980. suggest removing 'his first' from the sentence.

[ah, no yt links allowed? november 1973 'midnight special' w/ david bowie; look for the carmen songs.]
