The crossing keepers Gatehouse has been extended to become a residential house during early 2006 and was originally Southampton & Dorchester Railway Lodge number 19. This was painted on a thin metal plate & fixed to the wall, central, facing the track.
The trackbed on which the station stood has now had a large block of flats built on it, so access to the former track is gained from Arnold Close, turning right to the curve of the Cul-de-Sac & through the gateway facing East towards Ashley Heath (Woolsbridge).
If one stands at this point, looking East, to your left would be the place where the curve North for Salisbury swung round which goes on up 1/4 mile to Newmans Lane, & crossing over the main road to Three Legged Cross. In front of you would be the complex of the Military Sidings for the import of fuel etc.
If looking right, the clear straight line behind all the gardens of the residences is the former track to the station. A Southern Railway style concrete lamppost is still noteworthy.
It's now possible to walk, cycle or horse ride 2 1/2 miles to Ashley Heath observing two more lamp posts, two concrete military bufferstops, A stout steel girder bridge, one rail post for mounting trackbed gradient plates,two telegragh posts still standing and a culvert. Also interesting to note the variety of rail gate posts.
