New Zealand Branch Merge

As the The Heraldry Society (New Zealand Branch) is a branch of the original Heraldry Society, I think that it ought to be merged into the main article for the Heraldry Society. Just as the various branches of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada do not have their own pages, neither should this branch. If there are no objections, I would gladly do the merging work.--dave-- 20:17, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm a member of the Council of the NZ Branch, and its webmaster. Although its name suggests that it is only a branch - and the name has been subject to considerable debate - we are actually a separate society. The members of the NZ Branch are no longer regarded as belonging to the parent society, and we don't receive the journal of the parent society. I would suggest that the entry should be separated, to reflect this reality, with a note added along the lines I've outlined above.Ncox 23:29, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the section below as it is essentially a repeat of other articles which contain the same infomation and each one should not simple circularly repeat each other. This article should be about this society. Alci12 12:48, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"The The Heraldry Society of Scotland, the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada, and the American Heraldry Society follow a model similar to that of the Heraldry Society. The Heraldry Society (New Zealand Branch), established in 1962, is operationally and constitutionally completely independent of The Heraldry Society. It publishes a quarterly journal, The New Zealand Armorist, and its patron is the Honourable Anand Satyanand, Governor-General of New Zealand. The current president of the branch is Lieutenant-Commander Kenneth McGrath, VRD RNZNVR rtd."

Alci12, I think it's good to remove most of that information. The repitition of the HS (NZ) info in completely unnecessary. The sentence about the legacy of the heraldry society looks good to me, though. Add back as you think best I added links to all the netries I removed at the bottom of the article. I just felt on reading the article that it looked like it had been written before the seperate articles so it ended up containing infomation that had a proper home elsewhere. Not worth a Front Page placement
