Stratum lucidum in hippocampus

Just to add a bit of complexity, the stratum lucidum is also a layer of the hippocampus between the stratum pyramidale and the stratum radiatum. Does anyone think this warrants a disambiguation and a split? Is anyone actually bothered? I have a natural tendency towards laziness, plus I'm really supposed to be doing something else, so I'm unlikely to do this and create a new stub for hippocampal strata any time soon. Sorry. Are the cells "dead"? Compare with article on stratum corneum

The stratum corneum is outside of the stratum lucidum. The article on the stratum corneum now includes this in the lead paragraph:

There has been a long standing belief in dermatology that the stratum corneum consisted of dead cells (corneocytes), devoid of biological activity and function. The stratum coreum is now understood as live tissue and performs protective and adaptive physiological functions ...

I'm no expert; but if the stratum corneum cells are considered "living", in some sense, then I would suppose that cells in the stratum lucidum are, also. However, that disagrees with the stratum lucidum article as it now exists. Perhaps one or both of the articles could be edited so they conform with each other. Or possibly the real experts on this disagree with each other, in which case the articles could reflect that diversity of opinion. Oaklandguy (talk) 04:23, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
