Talk:Scleral Ring

From WikiProjectMed
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Do these rings move with the eye? Or are they rigid to skull?

Do all fish, birds, and non-crocodilian reptiles have these? Amphibians?

Implications for behavior

The article on pterosaurs says,

Comparisons between the scleral rings of pterosaurs and modern birds and reptiles have been used to infer daily activity patterns of pterosaurs;

specifically with reference to whether a species was diurnal or nocturnal. It would be useful if the present article explained how sclerotic (or scleral) rings may indicate such patterns of activity. J. D. Crutchfield | Talk 18:43, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
