Initial comments

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I'm a journalist and writer by profession and not an expert at writing for encyclopedias. I'm really kind of lost trying to figure out how to make the corrections needed to meet Wikipedia guidelines.

I would certainly appreciate and encourage a Wikipedia editor to clean up this article and make it acceptable to the Wikipedia community.

My sources for this article are very personal. I've been the unofficial historian of WTVJ for more than three decades and have produced all of the TV specials about WTVJ's history for the last 25 years. My personal video archive numbers hundreds of video tapes, which are being transferred to DVD. Many of them have been placed on www.youtube.com.

In any area where I was vague, I personally interviewed those connected closely with Ralph Renick. These include his son, Ralph Renick, Jr.; his brother and former WTVJ Director, Richard Renick; the late WTVJ Weatherman, Bob Weaver, who was hired along with Renick in 1949 and was with the station for 54 years; and Bernie Rosen, with WTVJ since its inception in 1949 and still an active employee. My quotes of Renick can now be verified by readers through my youtube postings.

My goal in writing this article on Ralph Renick is to preserve his memory and legacy in the most accurate manner possible, before those who worked with him are gone as well. For me, this is simply a labor of love, a passion to truly document the pioneer of South Florida television news for readers now and in the future.
