Early Germanic Christianity?

- The pagan spells of Merseburg (Merseburg Incantations) aren't epic poetry. From that point of view is the initial line of the article completly correct. --El bes 18:15, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Old Bavarian
One interesting aspect, that remains mostly unmentioned, as well here in Wikipedia as in most scientific literature, is that both the Hildebrandslied and the Muspilli are written in Old Bavarian, or at least mostly in the Bavarian form of what linguists like to call Old High German. Therefor the epic German poetry starts in Bavaria and not in Frankish areas, as well as other "firsts", like the oldest translation of a part of the Bibel (the Mathew gospel from Mondsee) and the first song (Freisinger Petruslied). --El bes (talk) 09:31, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
