Why 2025 ?

The next Miss World event should be "Miss World 2024", not 2025! Willrick (talk) 22:32, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unless the event is scheduled for this year, which is unlikely since their recent crowning was March. Japemizen627 (talk) 07:59, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Japemizen627, @Willrick, I actually have an idea, why not regard the 71st edition as Miss World 2023-2024, and regard the 72nd edition as Miss World 2024-2025? News outlets have regarded the 71st edition as both Miss World 2023 and 2024, and it actually is confusing. The contestants page for the 71st edition have a heading in them which says "2023". The event also happened in March so most likely the 72nd edition would also happen in March, a year after the 71st edition, so the 72nd edition could be regarded as Miss World 2024-2025 to avoid confusion. @Bri, I think you should weigh on this as well since I believe you are knowledgeable about this. The social media sites and the website of Miss World has been uploading the contestants from the 72nd batch already, all of which are already in the Contestants table of this article before the article was changed into a redirect. WP:COMMONNAME should govern article titles. It is what current sources call it: as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources. I'm not sure which is the right answer, 2024 or 2025, because I'm not that familiar with the sources. If it seems to be split, then the article could be titled "72nd Miss World" or some such, until a consensus develops. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:23, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. Until a consensus agreement is reached, let's compromise instead with the " 72nd Miss World" as the main article name. Japemizen627 (talk) 01:32, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
