Other forms of jewelry

The item alluded to in this edit appears to correspond to the dijaru, dejhoor or deji-hor. According to the "deji-hor" source I've linked, the mangalasutra is an alternative to this, not merely the same thing worn in a different place. It would appear there is a variety of wedding jewelry items common to several religious traditions in the region, and we might do well to have a separate article detailing these items. It was unknown in North India until recent decades

I never saw it in North India when I was growing up. It apeears to have become a common ornament now in the North, but it is not required in marriages.Malaiya (talk) 01:52, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
