John Forest's burning
This article is replicated at John Forrest (martyr). Could someone who knows more than me about the man merge the articles? Hndis (talk) 07:31, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thomas Cranmer and Hugh Latimer acted as a team on Cromwell's behalf in the proceedings which led to the friar's destruction. There is a disconcerting savagery especially in Latimer's dealings with the doomed friar during April and May. Forest was roasted alive with unusually grotesque barbarity on 23 May 1538. The burning took place in the presence of various dignitaries including Cranmer and Cromwell. (cf. Diarmuid MacCulloch, Thomas Cranmer.
