Evaluation of his works

Hello there. I came tonight to this Wiki article after having read parts of Wise's "History of the Hebrews' second commonwealth". I really was looking for how his works have been outdated or affirmed. Much of what I was reading from that book dealt with Pontius Pilate, John the Baptist, Herod Antipas and Jesus. So, I also went to Wiki articles on these people to see if there was discussion of Rabbi Wise's description of those events. The article on Pilate had a reference to Wise, as I believe also did The Baptist's and Antipas' have a mention. But there was no real evaluation of his views.

For instance: In the history I referred to, Wise asserts that John the Baptist was most certainly killed in Arabia before Herodias arrived in Judah. Thus contradicting the Biblical account of how the Baptist was beheaded for a dance. And also the idea that the Baptist, being imprisoned in Arabia as a political prisoner, could never have sent communications to Jesus. There just seems to be no present day analysis of these accounts put forth by Wise.

If this is not the place to include even some contemporary review of his work, then where is a person to go? Shouldn't there be at least a reference?

Views on Freemasonry

Wise has often been quoted by conspiracy theorists as saying that Freemasonry is a Jewish institution from beginning to end. Even Masons themselves have made use of this public statement. The majority of the article is taken from the references listed. If you'd like to match up specific paraphrasings, etc. using citations, please feel free. However, the tag itself gives the reader the impression that what is contained is somehow inaccurate or not specifically bona fide historically, which is not the case. dead link and WP:OR on slavery

The section on Wise's views of slavery is sourced to a dead link not found elsewhere on that site or archives, and a paragraph of original research from the WP:PRIMARY source, Wise's article published in 1864. This subject is clearly interesting if sourceable but the current contents are a good illustration of why WP:NOR is a policy. It's hard to tell from what is written whether Wise was endorsing American slavery as it existed, or making some adjacent points, and whether the criticism he is said to have received occurred in his lifetime.
