If lesions only appear in 10% of those affected how come 60 or 175 wrestlers had an outbreak in the mentioned wrestling camp. Also is there a difference between shingles and gladatorial herpes because this article doesn't make any mention to shingles in my experience shingles goes from the nerve out not the other way around76.88.222.33 (talk) 04:32, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

this article needs merged into the HSV article.

the naming of this disease is completely political. There are only two type of Herpes HSV-1 and HSV-2. These athletes are spreading a STD HSV-1 and HSV-2 and the media doesn't want to call it that b/c of the strong negative connotations with STDs and genital herpes.206.193.253.171 (talk) 12:26, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

I agree with the above poster. The whole "Herpes gladiatorum" is not a new or different virus. It is just a name used to avoid calling the aliment what it is: HSV1 and HSV2 via direct skin contact. The name was probably made up to avoid the stigma of "Genital Herpes" which is exactly what it is. This is not a different virus like Herpes Zoster. It is the exact same virus and does not need a special name to help high school wresters' ego. It is ridiculous that this article even exists in the first place. Does anyone else see the issue here? One unique identified per a virus. No need to confuse the public with extra virtually meaningless names.

my story to tell im a 47 yr old male that has been given herpes by i guess my exgirlfreind i have just found out how bad this can get it is highly contagious spreads by touch when infected my ex was married twice 5to6 yrs for each she rented my upstairs bedrm was still married getting a divorce within a month or so we started sleeping together this women is very attractive cute and innocent so i thought she told me she did not give either husband this virus she has had this since 21 40 now school teacher she said cndoms make her break out so dating one lady for 7mons over 10yrs ago i did not get herpes i have had cold sores since my teens but had not had an outbreak for over 8 yrs the sunkist cutties seem too start an outbreak if i eta too many not knowing contagious i gave this too a very wonderful lady and she left i was with her for a yr loved her very much could not apoligise enough and i am so very very sorry this was about 14yrs ago so i guess what comes ar ound go around karma back too my very cute girlfriend both very physically attracted to each other temptation took over we started sleeping with a month before her divorce was final with in 2mon i have herpes on my pecker this craeted some tention with me carried a grudge for 3to4 mon trying to work it out because of the circumstances her comment when i told her was i figured you loved me and it would not matter we could not keep are hands off each other on till i got hd so just when i think we got threw the woods she tells me she wants too go back too her first husband that she left for her second husband and shen she wants to get pregnant at 40 does not have ins or money he lives in ca i found this out slept with her on sun morning found out by 3 that day that she wanted to get with him still living with me she wants to fly him out to see if they could work it out she told me he had not had sex for over a yr so he came out had sex with her said she was to fragile did not w ant her i still wanting her so we tried again well taking a shower not knowing she wash my feet with a foot stone this gave me herpes on my feet that i thought was athletes foot it does not clear up 3 does of antifungul pills not good for liver then go to a dermitoligist he said it was exzema so just two wks ago i get blisters on my hands look that up on the net okay lets go back a little bit about 8or9mons ago she bought a house very limited income instead going threw counseling i yelled at this women because i wanted some lovin my fault but i feel like i was bending over backwards for her so she buys her house im mad but still help her move still fighting to get my boyfriend status back a mon or so goes buy and surprise ive got boyfriend status back so im self employed do a whole lot of improvement to her house front window front door storm dr crown molding in living rm new texture bth living rms paint built a big bookcase shelves raked out crawl space alot more we than pl an a vacation too see my daughters 27 and 24 and my grand children her 2 dogs and my 2 other children 7and 5 we had a great time so thats a short version so 2wks ago she dumped me again same thing i yelled twice i have lost it with her and yelled in am very sorry and still have asked to go to counseling i do love her and do not want too move along this virus is very very bad and cant say enough about this virus so just stay away from anyone with std i would love to here comments i know im a dumbass im sorry for the spelling and punc

Meaningless

This statement is so ungrammatical as to be devoid of any meaning;
