When was rugby league first televised?
The 1947–48 Northern Rugby Football League season article states "Wigan's 1948 Challenge Cup Final victory over Bradford Northern was the first ever televised Rugby League match and Cup Final - although it was shown in the Midlands only.", whereas the Harry Burton (rugby league) article states "Harry Burton scored the first try when rugby league was first televised live, when Wakefield Trinity played Wigan at Central Park on 12 January 1952." There's obviously some conflict here, I'm wondering whether Harry Burton's try was the first broadcast on national television, or in television broadcast in Lancashire and/or Yorkshire, rather than just the midlands. Any ideas? Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 08:09, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
