Which ship?

This sentence, (in para 2 of the lede in the article), concerns me: "U-106 catalyzed Mexico's entry into World War II on the side of the Allies by sinking the oil tanker SS Faja de Oro." It concerns me because in Michael Gannon's book Operation Drumbeat (1990), pages 347 and 348, it states: "One loss, that of the neutral Mexican-flag tanker Porttreo del Llano, (my emphasis), near Miami on 14 May, precipitated Mexico's declaration of war on Germany."

So, which is correct? Or do the two statements hang on the meaning of the words 'catalyzed' and 'precipitated'?

'Uboat.net' states that the sinking of the Porttreo del Llano and the Faja de Oro caused Mexico to declare war on Germany. I quote: "On 1 Jun, 1942, Mexico declared war on Germany after two Mexican tankers had been sunk by U-boats: Potrero del Llano by U-564 (Suhren) on 14 May and Faja de Oro by U-106 (Rasch) on 21 May."

I will edit accordingly.
