Oil Conversion?

Where does this fact come from? It seems unlikely an old steam tug would be converted to oil just before scrapping.

Although I don't have a reference to hand, I suspect that this is referring to a change in the boilers from coal-fired to oil-fired; not to a change in engine to diesel. Someone with access to a Lloyd's Register for that period may be able to cite Davidships (talk) 20:43, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

• The Farley Mowat book explains pretty well... she made numerous salvage/rescue jobs. During WWII, Halifax and Sydney were especially busy as convoy ports, so many ships had issues. Towing Bows?

The Mowat book has a diagram, which indicates "towing bows" (I think as in a "bow tie" and not as in "ships bow"). They look like hoops over the stern area of the ship, behind the superstructure. Does anybody know the purpose? Feldercarb (talk) 22:14, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
