"Provisional" Constitution
Whether the Dáil Constitution, and therefore the Irish Republic, was intended from the beginning as an interim document/administration or one subject to ordinary amendment was one of the major points of disagreement between the pro- and anti-Treaty parties. Inclusion of the word 'provisional' in article 5 may well have explicitly indicated only that the constitution was , like all constitutions, subject to change in the prescribed manner. For an editor to attempt to definitively decide this point retrospectively, opens that assertion to a charge of political revisionism . RashersTierney (talk) 09:35, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
