Not a Netflix show
It seems common for VOD providers (Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc.) to label their purchased programming from other regions as "Original" programming. Star Trek Discovery, for example, is listed as a Netflix original in the UK. Derek was a Channel 4 production marketed as a Netflix Original elsewhere, but is not a Netflix show. As far as I can make out, this is a BBC production, later acquired by Netflix. This is backed up by https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/netflix-picks-up-bbcs-collateral-as-netflix-original/. Does anyone have any sources that confirm that Netflix were actually involved in the production? --woodensuperman 08:04, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- A couple of sources from when the show started filming suggest it is indeed a co-production[1][2]. I'll replace the source saying it is an acquisition as it has a number of factual errors, and implies Netflix only recently picked up when that is clearly false.
