Talk:Chris Adams (character)

Article issues

The article suffers from several problems, the main one being that it merely consists of an incoherent listing of trivia. The "further reading" is mainly concerned with other subjects and often mentions this character only in passing. Most information here should be deleted, some of it could be incorporated in the articles on the movie and on Brynner. --Crusio (talk) 12:36, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Trivia"-like nature of the character analysis section

The way this section is currently written is just an enumeration of trivia. A proper encyclopedic entry would look something like this. I have not made these changes here, because I am not sure that the sources have been represented correctly and because User:SerdechnyG seems to regard any change I make to this article as a personal attack. --Crusio (talk) 13:10, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've gone ahead and done it anyway. As for the honorifics, they really don't add anything to notability. What counts is that these things were said in published books. What counts even more toward notability is that these books were not published by some vanity press, but by highly respected academic publishers. Whether the authors are professors or not is really immaterial. The way the section is written now is more encyclopedic, more succinct, and less trivia-like. --Crusio (talk) 08:10, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Further reading

This section should be removed completely. For most books it is completely unclear whether they even mention the character concerned. Other books are duplicates of works used in the references and should go just for that reason alone. From Google Books it would appear that most books only mention Chris Adams in passing. --Crusio (talk) 14:49, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It does not hinder anybody. Those, who aren't interresting in further reading simply don't open it. As for Google Books - many of them are strictly copyrighted, so you won't be able to read them anyhow, only by buying these books, or reading them in public library. -- SerdechnyG (talk) 19:28, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia Section

Nearly the entire trivia section devoted to a list of various bullet points about the popularity of the film "Magnificent Seven" in the USSR, along with a quote that doesn't even make sense ("Even the Deuce isn't a match for him?" What does this mean?) and some random riddle that I am pretty sure is related to basically nothing. There's no need to mention the Russian novel based on the film in this article; it's relevant to the movie's page, certainly, but it is just sort of shoehorned in. This entire section just needs to be clipped off. Atypicaloracle (talk) 05:08, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
