Hispanic or not?

Hey there,

I would like to discuss the following sentence in the article:

"In recent years, the neighborhood has attracted many Hispanics."

This sentence either needs solid proof or it should be removed as potentionally biased or based on unverifyable observations.

Lots of people are moving out of a lot of neighborhoods and others are moving in, some of these "others" are white, others are black, again others are hispanic or of any other race. According to city-data.com (http://www.city-data.com/city/Memphis-Tennessee.html), the percentage of hispanic people in Memphis is 3% altogether and cerainly not all of them populate Berclair. I live in Memphis and certainly I have seen hispanic looking people all over town, yes, and in Berclair, too. But observations of this kind do not establish a fact. So to stay in the article this statement needs demographic, statistical, verifyable proof.

I am looking forward to hear your opinions. Thank you!

I live in Berclair and the Hispanic population is as large as it is in other neighborhoods. So I am taking it out
Thank you for the second opinion, I guess that is the best we can do in case there is unverifyable content in an article.

What is Berclair really named after?

In the article it is stated that Berclair "is named after a major street in this district". That is correct insofar as there is a Berclair Rd in this district. But what if someone wonders what or who that street is named after?

Any ideas or further knowledge available from someone, maybe, who is living in that district for a long time and knows more about it?

Its named after the road and ASFAIK the road was simply named that by city designers.

Berclair was originally a trolley/train stop. As the area developed a group in the immediate vicinity formed the "Berclair Civic Club". It was located at the Northwest corner of Noverese and Tutwiler. (743 Novarese) The club purchased the property on September 29 1945.[1] The building remains there today. The club is not as active as it once was, however the building continues to be used and taxes paid.

Unfounded information about the racial makeup/Vandalism

Besides unfounded material about "several latino based street gangs", I have removed a statement from the article that reads "This particular portion of Memphis like various neighborhoods on the Eastside of Memphis are home to a predominately (sic!) large Mexican/Hispanic population."

So to stay in the article this statement needs demographic, statistical, verifyable proof (as well as proper formulation).

Recently, there have been quite a few additions of gang names and activities in Memphis related articles (Nutbush, Memphis, Hollywood, Memphis and North Memphis). Wikipedia is certainly not the appropriate platform to develop a map of gang territories.
