Network Audio System?
As described at [1], and it's a package in Debian Stable. It's Layer 3, but I'm not sure whether to describe it as "proprietary" (because I haven't found a protocol description even submitted to a standards body for it) or "open standard" (because an open-source reference implementation is available). DavidLeeLambert (talk) 01:03, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
- Since it's apparently layer 3 it's not Audio over Ethernet, rather Audio over IP. Seems to be open source, possibly lacking formal protocol description. --Zac67 (talk) 07:29, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
- After reading http://www.radscan.com/nas/docs/xcon94paper.ps it looks like it uses TCP for network connections (by reference to X11), so supposedly it's layer 6. --Zac67 (talk) 12:17, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
Proposed merge of IP audio codec into Audio over IP
You can't have audio over IP without a codec. Material from IP audio codec can be as a new section without WP:UNDUE. ~Kvng (talk) 16:42, 24 March 2020 (UTC) ~Kvng (talk) 16:42, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
