A Diplomat who served in Belgrade
Have removed a claim that he served as a diplomat in Belgrade, as the cited online source makes no mention of it (and if it was after the Curragh Incident it seems a little unlikely). On the same page there is a Spencer Henry Paget in the list above him, of whom these things are true. If anyone has another source, feel free to add back in.Paulturtle (talk) 22:43, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- In his 1977 biog of Kitchener, which I'm reading at the moment, Cassar confuses the two Pagets apropos of early 1915 intrigues to get Greece, Romania and Bulgaria into the war on the Allied side. Don't think this is anything to do with Arthur Paget's near-mission to Russia. Paulturtle (talk) 03:13, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

Persona grata with the Tsar
Have just included a mention of his near appointment as military rep to the Russian STAVKA in October 1914. The book specifically quotes from a Kitchener letter mentioning "General A Paget" which Cassar takes to mean Arthur Paget in the index. No idea where or when he became "persona grata" with the Tsar, though - maybe at some stage in the Edwardian era when the Tsar visited the UK and was invited to inspect some maneouvres. No mention in his ODNB biog by Ian Beckett either. There is only one General Arthur Paget listed on the wikipedia list of British generals, so, bizarrely, it does look like him.Paulturtle (talk) 21:15, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
ODNB article mentions that he was sent as a special ambassador to various European courts in 1910 to formally announce the accession of King George V. So maybe he met the Tsar then.Paulturtle (talk) 00:46, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
