Rockall

Four citations to say the man got permission for something that he ended up not doing seems excessive! Could somebody not find a source saying he didn't land on Rockall? That would surely be more informative. Scolaire (talk) 22:40, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is he really noteworthy enough to have a Wikipedia entry? Also reads as if he may have written it himself 89.194.7.38 (talk) 12:46, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure he is notable enough. The references look okay at first glance in terms of overall weight of numbers. But the more you look at them, the less impressive they are. If you remove the links to his own websites and his self-published book, you are left with the following local press articles:

The coverage in the national media pieces fail WP:NRVE: The evidence must show the topic has gained significant independent coverage or recognition, and that this was not a mere short-term interest, nor a result of promotional activity or indiscriminate publicity [...]

Challenge

That Strangeways has suggested that the challenge of repeating his feat be named after him is all very well but is it worthy of note if he is the only one who has expressed an interest in the challenge, let alone naming it? I can't see that it is. Has anyone else attempted this or expressed an intent to? Mutt Lunker (talk) 12:06, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
