Rambaut was first to publish the Coronavirus genome on 10th January 2020

Hello @92.238.235.86:. You have removed the paragraph about Rambaut publishing the Covid genome for the first time. Rambaut was named in the Science article that broke the story https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/01/chinese-researchers-reveal-draft-genome-virus-implicated-wuhan-pneumonia-outbreak. And, as the Horizon Special: The Vaccine, says, his action kicked off the vaccine race. The programme states: “When Chinese scientists published the genetic sequence of a mystery new virus on January 10th 2020, vaccine scientists around the world immediately sprang into action” (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p09kw2jz). Holmes also credits Rambaut's role and the speed at which he put the virus up. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/virus-rebel-professor-edward-holmes-named-nsw-scientist-of-the-year-20201026-p568qj.html

Please explain why you regard this as trivial. GreyStar456 (talk) 17:03, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Covid role

Rambaut published for the first time the genome of the COVID-19 coronavirus after it was sent to him by Edward C. Holmes. Both Science and Holmes state this. The New Yorker also credits Virological. This was an important and significant moment, enabling the start of the search for a vaccine. GreyStar456 (talk) 22:56, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
