Amelanism vs albinism

Help! I have been spending a lot of time editing a new article Albinism in biology completely unaware of this page. I am now confused. What is the difference between these amelanism and albinism? If there is none, perhaps we should consider merging.__DrChrissy (talk) 18:33, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

After researching this a little more, I found this definition [1] "Albinism, (from the Latin albus, meaning “white”), hereditary condition characterized by the absence of pigment in the eyes, skin, hair, scales, or feathers." This is a slightly different to referring to lack of melanin only and is a much broader definition meaning that amelanism is a sub-set of albinism.__DrChrissy (talk) 20:26, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Definitely two different things, you are right. Someone also pointed out Leucism also has to be considered. All of which makes my head want to explode. BTW, I like the Albinism in biology page, interesting :-P Montanabw^(talk) 03:50, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
