Son of "Emperor Albert I"?

I'm not convinced that Albert I was an emperor, though he was crowned King of the Romans at Aachen, I believe, and later recognised as emperor elect by Boniface VIII.

But for all I know there may be other schools of thought on this - certainly from the fifteenth century onwards emperors elect were counted as emperors. I'm nervous of changing this without a second opinion, particularly in view of the redirect under the title of Albert's page.--qp10qp 19:24, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I've now changed it to "son of Albert I of Germany, Rex Romanorum". After making the above comment, I found two more monarchs incorrectly described as emperors in other articles and have changed those entries too. In the absence of a discussion, I'm reasonably sure of my ground, having once learned all the emperors off by heart; but I'm willing to be corrected if I've missed something. I wonder if these articles were copied up by people (and I'm grateful to them for the work) who were not particularly familiar with medieval history or Latin and who thought the term "Rex Romanorum" meant "Holy Roman Emperor" and needed translating to make that clearer.

The present article needs more tidying up, in my opinion, and I may get back to it.--qp10qp 15:22, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
