I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 2024 United States Senate election in Ohio's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT 19:12, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reversed edits of candidates

Earlier I added the Democrat challenger Tariq Shabazz and independent Stephan Farris.

Tariq's campaign website https://www.shabazzforsenate.com/ indicates he is running. Tariq has filed with the FEC TARIQ SHABAZZ FOR US SENATE 2024 (C00843490) https://www.fec.gov/data/candidate/S4OH00218/?cycle=2024&election_full=true&tab=about-candidate This led me to believe he is a candidate in this election.

Stephan's campaign website is admittedly out of date https://www.writeinfaris.com/ Stephan however is also filed with the FEC and additionally has reported contributions and expenditures for this year. FARIS WRITE IN FOR SENATE (C00688465) https://www.fec.gov/data/candidate/S8OH00144/?cycle=2024&election_full=false&tab=about-candidate

This led me to believe he is a candidate in this election.

and i still do, there no significant evidence to the contrary but there is in support.

I am not going to get into some edit war here for this, but they are both clearly candidates in this upcoming race and should not have been removed.

Below are their statement of candidacy submitted to the FEC declaring themselves to candidates in the Ohio 2024 senate election.

Tariqs: https://docquery.fec.gov/pdf/420/202308219596760420/202308219596760420.pdf

but maybe i'm wrong and have no idea what im talking about. 2603:6011:4502:A590:0:0:0:100B (talk) 17:49, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As the user who removed the Farris part, I'll say that I removed it because the only source provided was the out of date article. But, be aware the FEC filings are a WP:PRIMARY source - and even aside from this, filing paperwork doesn't mean for certain you're in the race. If you could find any reliable source even just saying "Stephen Farris is running as a write-in candidate" or "Tariq Shabazz is running as a Democrat" as a passing mention, then it'd be certain to be included in the article. ser! Primary infoboxes

Was there some sort of consensus made about the addition of infoboxes for primaries? I noticed these edits were made after the primaries in this race so I figured I'd find some answers here. If not, I feel it might be necessary to have at least some sort of discussion, as this is a major new change being made to multiple articles. DukeOfDelTaco (talk) 22:08, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there was, the Ohio elections are part of a series of edits a user made adding infoboxes for the primaries this year. If it were up to me, I'd remove them and just have a map, standard with prior election's primaries. An infobox clutters up the article too much to be honest. @DukeOfDelTaco Talthiel (talk) 23:04, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
