Updating player and goaltender statistics

I was about to update player stats after the game against Vegas in November 26, but then I saw the scary and ominous warning to not update any stats until November 29. Can someone please explain why? If an editor is willing to put in the time and effort to update the stats whenever that may be, isn't that better than leaving them stuck at some arbitrary date? We may not update the stats after every game, but I don't see any good reason for this warning. I stopped making the edit out of respect of the editor who posted the warning.
