Special elections

I believe that there should be a separate category for any and all special elections that took/take place prior to the actual primaries/general election. I believe that this is necessary because certain council members have resigned before the general election, and and it should be shown how their successors were elected. I don't believe it makes sense to have the special election boxes placed into the Results tab, as that is mean for the primaries/general election. The separation is also necessary because there are certain candidates who run in the special election, but not in the primaries/general election and in should be noted who those individuals are. I have attempted to create such a listing, but User:JesseRafe has persistently removed these additions and keeps putting the special elections in the Results tab. When I informed them of what I was doing, using current info from https://www.nyccfb.info/follow-the-money/candidates/ and other sources about who is running where to the best of my ability, they repeatedly removed my edits and told me to take it to the talk page, so I did. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.189.117.158 (talk) 00:35, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Right, and I disagree with your analysis and rationale. Specials are no different than regular elections, they're 2021 City Council elections -- do they not have results? Of course they do. You had the two primaries that already occurred as everyone listed as a Democrat. That may be how they're registered to vote, but not how they're listed; I listed their parties from the actual results, I hadn't done so yet for the other pending elections because it's rather tedious, but I did remove the formatting that labeled them as Democrats, because that's incorrect in non-partisan specials in NYC. Hi someone reverted an Edit I made for the 50th district. Jordan Hafizi is running as a republican candidate for the 50th district not a democrat. Districts 18 and 41 Greens

Carl Lundgren and I filed on May 25, and the challenge period has passed. We attempted to file as ballot status Greens in March pending what the judge says in the lawsuit. --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 04:44, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Serious project is needed, change from templates to freestanding tables to accommodate further rounds of RCV

I'm going to stop updating the in-person voting records because we need to change the format of these tables. I don't have the time or inclination to do it, but the other 2021 NYC election pages use a heading that make it clear these are "Round 1" votes and tally exhausted ballots, similar what was done for the Special with District 15 on this page. However the split from the simple and clear {{Election box}} template to a customized generic table isn't a simple change as they use completely different syntax. Whoever wants to step up and make this change should also be able to update the ballot figures at the same go, as the candidates are currently in alpha order and with the #s included should then be in ranked order, it's a lot of overhauling to do either way so better once each race than twice.
