A campus occupation by pro-Palestinian students occurred from April to May 2024 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Approximately 30 tents were set up on the Kresge Lawn by students who demanded the Institute cut explicit research ties with the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The encampment was known as the Scientists Against Genocide Encampment (SAGE).[1]

The encampment began on April 21, 2024 when about 15 tents were pitched by students.[2] Throughout the following weeks, the number of tents increased to approximately 30.[3] The encampment was dismantled when MIT senior administration authorized Massachusetts state police, Cambridge city police, and MIT campus police to enter at 4 a.m. on May 10, 2024, arresting 10 students.[4]
