Odd Names
It's a bit strange that Carafa is listed here, whereas Rossini is not. Rossini, after all, ceased composing at the end of the Classical period, with the exception of a couple of religious works. Carafa, on the other hand, wrote deep into the Romantic period. My suggestion would be that Rossini should be listed among Classical composers, rather than Romantic, due to when he stopped composing (his last opera was 1828, and he retired). Rossini is listed at List of Classical era composers. If you think there is a good case for him to be placed in the Classical era composers Category too (and I think you have a point) you can always add [[Category:Classical era composers]] to the end of the Gioachino Rossini article. And there's no reason why composers cannot be classified with two different era tags where appropriate—Monteverdi is classified as Renaissance and Baroque; Carafa as both Classical era and Romantic. At the time of my message (Sept 2007) I don't think Rossini was included in the "List of Classical era composers". I may be wrong about that, but I believe that was the case at the time. I have, however, gone ahead and added this category to the bottom of his page after reading your reply. Smyslov (talk) 15:03, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
