This is the Speed family of Louisville, mostly associated with the plantation built by John Speed, Farmington, as well as their associations with Abraham Lincoln and namesake institutions in Louisville, namely Speed Art Museum and J. B. Speed School of Engineering. Former Louisville mayor James Stephens Speed is not known to be connected.
