The Carnegie Medal is a British literary award that annually recognises the writer of one outstanding new book for children or young adults, published in the United Kingdom. Established by the British Library Association for 1936 publications and inherited by the new organisation CILIP in 2001, it was restricted to British authors at least through the 1990s.
