This is Urbanrenewal/Archive 1

A tag has been placed on Lexington Partners, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Lexington Partners and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. EllanMcmurph (talk) 04:16, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Urbanrenewal,

Thanks for contributing. Unfortunately this article sounded like an advertisement. Please review the following notability guidelines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_%28organizations_and_companies%29

Hopefully this will provide the information you need to rewrite the article to meet corporate notability requirements. Thanks. EllanMcmurph (talk) 04:29, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 05:51, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

deletion review

Instead of just recreating you need to go to WP:DRV if you want the community to decide if the deletio was justified or not. Agathoclea (talk) 06:28, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:AlpInvest_Partners_Logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:AlpInvest_Partners_Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 07:33, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: AlpInvest Partners

Because the article was deleted through an AfD, it will require going to Deletion review in order to be unlocked and / or undeleted. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 20:36, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please look at my comment on the DRV. I found some sources for the article, and gave some advice. I think that maybe some of your articles were removed because you didn't provide notable sources. You need to find notable secondary sources that talk about the companies. The company's own website is not enough. The company's press releases are also not enough --Enric Naval (talk) 22:18, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
good job on the article. I made you an example of how to use the {{cite web}} template[1]. It's not compulsory to do it this way, but the reference format looks way cooler. --Enric Naval (talk) 02:41, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's unprotected. Go ahead an fix it. I noticed the Euro conversion rate is very old; today's rate is about €1 = $1.58. —EncMstr (talk) 20:27, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.--Hu12 (talk) 16:03, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hu12 - I have tried to be civil and I am now officially going to turn the other cheek. I don't have any affiliation with AltAssets (they happen to be a provider of news in the private equity space with freely available content) and as such make a natural source to reference. Please turn your attention to other subjects. Urbanrenewal (talk) 05:54, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
