Nickname

Re: recent changes. Freeman is a reliable source and states that "Helton's Hellcats" was a nickname for the group. He is supported by Watkins, Robert (2008). Battle Colors: Insignia and Markings of the Eighth Air Force In World War II. Vol. Vol I (VIII) Bomber Command. Atglen, PA: Shiffer Publishing Ltd. ISBN 978-0-7643-1987-7. {{cite book}}: |volume= has extra text (help) (although Watkins may rely on Freeman). The made up source for the generic "Fighting 493d" does not meet Wikipedia's standards for WP:RS. --Lineagegeek (talk) 00:01, 23 February 2019 (UTC)--Lineagegeek (talk) 00:01, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to not being a WP:RS "493 BG Archive records (dated 1943)" constitutes WP:OR and is therefore contrary to guidelines. Please note again that two separate reliable sources support the "Helton's Hellcats" nickname. I very much doubt that the possible archives actually include a statement that this nickname was never used, even if they do refer to the group as "The Fighting 493rd".--Lineagegeek (talk) 20:27, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What 2 sources support the name “Helton Hellcats” Freeman is NOT a 493rd expert. I have original documents that the CO wanted the group called the Fighting 493rd. These documents came from the National Archives. I sincerely doubt you have official US Army Air Corps documents that support Heltons Hellcats. 2601:380:837E:201F:E45C:B48D:A46B:915E (talk) 00:53, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
