Deutsch: Hochaltar der Michaelerkirche im 1. Bezirk der österreichischen Bundeshauptstadt Wien.
Die heutige Pfarr- und Klosterkirche der Salvatorianer wurde 1220 errichtet und war bereits 1288 einer der 3 Stadtpfarrkirchen. Nach mehreren Großbränden und einem Erdbeben wurde die Kirche mehrfach umgebaut. Die Barockisierung des gotischen Chores erfolgte nach einem Entwurf (1781) von Jean Baptiste d'Avrange (1728-1789). Die Figuren des Hochaltars stammen von Johann Martin Fischer (vier Evangelistenstatuen) und Philipp Jakob Prokop (zwei Putti, vier Engel sowie die Statuen des heiligen Rochus und des heiligen Sebastian). Über den Tabernakel befindet sich das Gnadenbild Maria Candia, eine Ikone aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Das Engelsturz-Stuckrelief vom Chorgewölbe bis hinunter zum Altar an der Chorscheitelwand (Chorschluss) schuf der Bildhauer Karl Georg Merville (1745–1798), ebenso den Wolkenhimmel. Die Bronzeornamente am Tabernakel, an der Tumba und an den Säulen stammen von Benedikt Henrici, der auch das vergoldete Relief mit dem Lamm Gottes über dem Tabernakel schuf. An Marmor wurde eher welcher mit blasser Farbe verarbeitet, außer beim Altartisch und bei der Mensaverkleidung. Für diese Steinmetzarbeiten wurde Stefan Gabriel Steinböck beauftragt. |
