DescriptionUtetheisa pulchelloides 5.jpg
These heliotrope moths Utetheisa pulchelloides were flying in across the beach from the Pacific Ocean in their hundreds. They would cross the surf and head up the beach and land on the flowers of a succulent. Who knows where they have come from? Did they head offshore last night, and in the light of day head landward? Had they flown from New Zealand? Had they been for a jolly with their mates up the coast? Gerroa NSW Australia, February 2011.
